Yacht
Production Notes
Many Two Bells productions have some association with the ocean; set next to it, under it, or this case, on top of it. Yacht was intended to be a psychological horror to appeal to the 14 - 18 year old mostly female demographic. It's developed into a more sophisticated drama as it went from first to third draft.
The third draft is available to read but is by no means the final draft for this film.
A disturbed teenager and her troubled parents take a yachting trip towards Ireland. They never make it. As they travel further out into the open water, isolated on their old yacht, instruments begin to fail, leading them further off any sailing routes, further from any civilisation.
The original purpose of the trip was to help the still traumatised Jessie reconnect with her detached father; being responsible for her mum's death in a car accident months previously. As he continues to put distance between the two of them the desperate Jessie goes to extreme lengths to get through to him out in the isolation of the open ocean.
