SQUID!
Production Notes
An underwater tongue-in-cheek B-movie featuring a massive squid and a lot of disaster. The idea for this film has been floating around for a while now, but as it would require a pretty hefty budget to shoot even the most modest version of the film it has not yet been developed into a script.
The film opens with some of the classic tales of giant squid and octopi attacking and bring down ships. This develops into a more specific and current series of incidents that have occurred in a more focused part of the ocean. Here three sailing ships have sunk, reasons unknown (not to those without very large squid on the mind), a submarine and our real story begins with the sinking of a research ship whose contents is too important to leave at the bottom of the ocean.
A small temporary base is built on the sea bed near the ship, which is hanging on to dear life half-way off a the edge of an underwater canyon. A giant metallic net has been fastened around it to give the team enough time to do their job; the mission to retrieve certain valuable 'research' from the doomed ship.
However something becomes trapped in the net. When the team discover a creature of gigantic proportions they are instructed to bring in two cephalopod experts to get what data they can before releasing it back into the wild and continuing their own job. But the experts have some bad news - this is but a baby squid, and its parents are going to be pissed…
